Blogging Is Such A New Experience

What happens if one who has been used to discussion forums suddenly finds himself confronting a blog? He posts a comment thinking that he is in a forum. What happens is something like this. It is just bad for the owner of the blog. He’ll have to worry about his database overloading.

I’m Back!

Man, I’ve almost forgotten my blogging obligations. I’ve been so busy with other things that I wasn’t able to get to this blog inspite of the activities I’ve been doing on the web these past days. What have I been doing you ask? Research, that’s what. I am preparing a short paper for a publication for the 27th of February and I haven’t really started to take down the more important notes. Anyway, tell you more about this later…

Another WordPress Blogsite

Looks like WordPress is trying to corner the market for blogs. I just found a WP blog site that runs on the regular installation (1.2.2?). It is found at Free-Blogger. I tried it but I only got far as the installation. When I tried to login with my username and password, it gave me a 404. It is obviously a glitch in programming the automated process. I’d say, wait for a few more weeks.

Pinoy Blog

What is happening to Pinoy Blog. I haven’t been able to access it for days. Is it having the same problem as Powweb? Powweb has been having difficulties with its “legacy servers.” As a result, a lot of its customers — including myself — are getting disgusted. Perhaps www.pinoyblog.com is also in a Powweb legacy server? :(

MSN Spaces

MSN Spaces

So Microsoft has entered the blogging bandwagon. They now have their own blog site for MSM members. The idea, I think, is to corner those using MSN services and compete with the other blog sites (mostly for teen and young adults like Xanga and LiveJournal). It is interesting to see how this new Microsoft venture will look like in the long run. Would it mean a new product? Perhaps.

Why Not A Free Blog?

If you are strapped for cash and you need a professional looking weblog, why not make use of WordPress’s free blog sites? I think that a blog like the one I have now is far more practical to have than let’s say something from TypePad which can cost a lot.

Teaching How To Blog

Blogging should come natural, but for the application used. There are quite a number of people I know who can write and who can type but feel daunted when confronting an interface that is web-based, and not typewriter or MSWord based. It is a good thing that there are sites like Blogsome that offer their facilities for free. Otherwise the really good writers won’t be empowered to make use of this new technology. And the WWW would be less rich without them.

Indecent Blogging

There is a website called Indecent Blogging, where people can blog freely about sex and other stuff. I’ve been there and found out that some “sexy” blogs were actually well done. The materials presented, however, are for adults only, that is, for people who are emotionally mature enough to handle the stuff. It is not a site for people who haven’t reached a particular level of experience in matters of “handling reality.” In my opinion, no teenager, whether chronological or psychological should even go there.
